| Project: |
Changi Airport in Singapore features a pair of glass atria that are two of the world’s finest glass box structures. The structures are approximately 120ft high, 240ft long and 60ft wide with a double skin of glass on tension trusses. Tensioned stainless steel mesh provides solar control and access for cleaning of the internal faces of the glass. Aerospace materials were used to minimize visual lines of the vertical tension trusses. The 6ft deep roof spine beam acts as a large spring; each vertical truss was optimized individually and collectively. The project was awarded the 2003 GlassTech Asia award for Glass Architectural Design.
