Rob is the Principal of The Facade Group and is responsible for the direction and operations of the firm. He has over 25 years of experience as an architect and consultant with over 15 years as a contractor. Rob’s unique combination of hands-on knowledge and architectural expertise allows him to assist clients in obtaining their design goals while ensuring a functional enclosure. Rob has extensive experience with curtain wall systems. His expertise includes glass, stone and terra-cotta applications. His portfolio is diverse—ranging from commercial towers such as the Washington Mutual Center in Seattle and Plaza 66 in Shanghai to public buildings such as the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse and the Seattle Art Museum.

David Altenhofen AIA

David is a Building Enclosure Consultant and Manager of The Facade Group East. He has extensive experience with masonry, windows, glazing, aluminum curtain walls, skylights, metal panel systems, precast concrete, roofing, waterproofing, building science, sustainability and forensics. Project types range from residential to high-tech, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and applied research facilities. Rounding out his experience, David has been a developer, a licensed general contractor. David is active in the architectural community at several levels, focusing primarily on reinforcing the architect’s role in building science and tectonic integrated design.

Kenneth Roko AIA

Ken is a Building Enclosure Consultant and Principal with over 14 years experience. He has a diverse background—encompassing both architecture and structural engineering. His project experience is equally diverse—ranging from commercial towers to residential towers, public buildings to institutional buildings. Ken is The Facade Group’s in-house roofing, waterproofing and air barrier expert and head of the Hygrothermal Analysis team. He is responsible for project coordination, analysis, detailing, production and construction services and existing buildings performance reporting. Ken’s portfolio includes historic preservation projects, exterior restoration, cladding systems, curtain walls, roofing, air barriers, below-grade and horizontal waterproofing systems, and expert witness testimony.

Steven L. Mortensen AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Steve is a Building Enclosure Consultant with over 22 years experience. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University. He has worked nationally and internationally with projects ranging from institutional to governmental to corporate. Steve has worked as a design-focused project architect, manager and technical architect on a number of award-winning academic, recreational and public buildings. He has managed design and consultant teams and led research and detailing efforts for complex building facades. Steve is an expert on structural issues related to building movement and its effect on exterior detailing. Additionally, he specializes in curtain wall, metal panel and sunscreen detailing.

Jim Mounts

Jim is a Project Manager and Architectural Detailer with a focus on curtain wall detailing and design. He has over 30 years of experience in the curtain wall industry. Having worked with premier glazing contractors, he has developed a broad level of skills in the execution of custom curtain wall projects. Jim collaborates with Clients, Contractors, Engineers and Manufactures to develop workable design solutions to address performance, assembly and installation conditions. His practical experience is based on the drafting board and through first-hand involvement in shop and field problem solving. Emphasizing design efficiency, Jim’s understanding of integrated design and materials guides his detailing work.

Eric Hektner

Eric is a Project Manager with over 30 years of experience in architectural design and curtain wall detailing. At The Facade Group, Eric focuses primarily on coordination and detailing of shop drawings for glazing and dimensional stonework. He has been recognized for his ability to unify design drawings with other project considerations—creating a cohesive detail package. Eric attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, focusing on City and Regional Planning. He has worked on several signature projects including a variety of high rise, residential and commercial projects in the U.S. and overseas.

Jasha Kistler

Jasha is a Building Enclosure Consultant with local and international project experience in a variety of building sectors. He has a passion for modeling and testing high-performance building enclosure systems. Jasha has extensive technical expertise in building energy analysis and strives to improve the energy performance of each project he is a part of. Jasha is a Level l Infrared Thermographer and has experience with Hygrothermal Modeling (WUFI), static water pressure testing and whole-building air testing.

Mel Kroker

Mel is a Building Enclosure Consultant and a nationally Certified Sustainable Building Advisor. He leads The Facade Group’s sustainable building initiative. Mel has a diversified background spanning academic, technical and construction experience. He has performed a broad range of design services including early site analysis, restoration of historic structures and all phases of architectural and interior design. Mel understands how to integrate complex mechanical, electrical and building systems into new and existing structures.

Lynnae Burns

Lynnae is an operations and marketing professional with over 12 years of experience. She has worked in graphic design, copywriting, branding and messaging as well as office and project management. At The Facade Group Lynnae is in charge of administrative functions as well as marketing initiatives and the creation of original marketing materials. Lynnae graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in History. In a prior position, she contributed to an award winning website, designed materials that were subsequently published and distributed by the US Department of Energy, conceptualized and designed a “Green Wedding” tradeshow booth that was featured on the television show AM Northwest and took the lead on countless other marketing and operational projects. Lynnae is an active member of the environmental business community and worked in that sector for many years.

Jim Dossett

Jim has 15 years of experience assessing and designing repairs for buildings and monuments. He performs broad-brush ground level surveys to highly detailed surveys aided by lifts, swing stages, or rope access. Detailed assessments often included non-destructive testing and probes to document the construction method used and identify hidden issues. Jim has worked exclusively on existing buildings, and is an expert on materials and enclosure systems found in older buildings. This includes materials not commonly used in new construction and therefore not familiar to most modern professionals.

Mike Williams

With over 35 years in the construction industry, Mike has spent the past 22 years devoting his career to safely accessing, investigating and maintaining building enclosure systems. His experience ranges from extreme on-site building access and providing onsite fall protection and rescue services, to locating and evaluating water and air infiltration concerns in building enclosures. Because of Mike’s specialized focus, experience, and training in forensic evaluations, he stands out as a top expert in the country. Combining a thorough understanding of building science with an advanced toolbox allows him to technically evaluate any complex building condition.
